Does your metabolism slow down after 30?

You probably heard people saying that once they hit a certain number of years their metabolism slowed down and hence, they weight gain, maybe you said it yourself.

I have good news for you.

This study shows that our metabolism stays the same between the ages of 30 and 60.

It’s not your metabolism who slowed down, it’s you moving less. There may be a variety of lifestyle factors involved.

You had children and less time to work out, more stress and stress eating, when we were younger and went out, we danced, now we meet with friends eat and don’t dance that much, we drive everywhere, maybe our diet has change a bit etc.

Now that we know that we are not at the mercy of our “slow” metabolism we have the power to change things. Maybe instead taking the lift walk up the stairs, walk to the shop, maybe start working out a few minutes a day, maybe your diet need a little change.

Small changes can make a big difference.

10 push ups, 10 squats every day will get you 300 squats and 300 push ups in a month. You probably have time to do more then 10 of each in a day.

Maybe add a bit protein to yor diet, swap that fizzy drink or juice for water.

Now that we can't blame our "slow" metabolism we can take matters in our own hands.

Just start somewhere.

All the best

Seb
