Happy New Year

I'm writing this on January 4th, 2021

As I write this, I'm sat on a sofa, in a warm house, using a bluetooth keyboard paired to my phone running on the WiFi.

I'm warm I'm dry I'm well fed

I personally have fuck all to complain about.

So as far as I'm concerned, 2021 is off to a good start.

Yes, we're in another lockdown

Yes, Wild Geese is unable to operate fully

Yes, the local swimming pool is shut Yes, there are restrictions in place.

But again, I have food, I have shelter, and I know I'm very fortunate here, I have company.

Life is good.

The last year may have been the strangest in living memory for most people, and just because the date ends in a 1 rather than a 0 now, it's not going to be any different for a while. Vaccines are being rolled out, employers are looking at new ways to operate.

There is going to be huge change this year, hopefully in a more positive manner than last years big changes.

What will NOT change is you. So you must remain adaptable. You must remain disciplined. If you have been training at home, continue, it won't be forever, the gyms, parks etc will reopen. If you've been enjoying time off, it's time to get back to it, there's plenty you can do with little to no equipment, if you have the attitude and the willingness. This is what Wild Geese was founded on.

Attitude and willingness.

Paulie and I, the founding members of Wild Geese have been cold, been hungry, been without shelter. We've trained with nothing, in empty rooms, outside, we've improvised kit where possible. We are not special. But we are examples.

You can do the same. It's not for much longer.

Look at how far you've come in 2020 with all the restrictions. I have people on my list who've turned their lives around in terms of relationships, mental health, physical health. Some have found a new love for running Some have applied themselves to rehabbing old niggling injuries, some have dusted off the old training kit that has been stashed in the corner.

People have lost weight, gained muscle, developed mobility and more.

All because of attitude.

Whatever 2021 brings over the next 12 months, keep that attitude.

That attitude is what makes you Wild Geese

regards
