Food diary.

If you are trying to lose weight and don't know where to start keeping a food diary may be one of the simplest ways to start.

Sometimes we don't realise how much or how little of certain foods we eat unless it's written down and we actually see that we could eat a little bit more veg or fruits, that the protein intake could be a little bit better etc.

Self monitoring can help us to see the good choices we are making, correct course when we indulge and make better choices in the future.

I am not saying that you shouldn't have a piece of chocolate, just don't eat the whole thing at once.

You have plenty of useful apps which can help you with keeping a food diary or just use pen and paper.

Keeping a food diary may also help you to find out which foods don't agree with you. If you are experiencing any gastrointestinal issues this may help to track the foods causing them. Sometimes they can manifest themselves 2 days later sometimes a few hours later.
